Farmers for America Documentary / Landowner & Farm Seeker Mixer

Are you interested in buying or leasing farmland? Would you be willing to make your land available to a farmer for use? Do you want to meet other farmers and farmland owners? If yes, this gathering is for you! You will learn about finding farmland or a farmer for your land, understand purchase, lease and financing options, and meet and greet with farmers and landowners in our region.

Come join us at Habitat Tavern and Commons for a fun evening to meet other farmers and landowners, discuss farmland access and be some of the first in WNC to watch Farmers For America, the new documentary that celebrates and supports young farmers. This documentary traces the extraordinary changes coming to America’s food system as more and more consumers flock to farmers’ markets, embrace farm-to-table lifestyles and insist on knowing where their food is coming from. With the average age of today’s farmer at 60, and rural America losing population as the cost of land and equipment soars, this film reveals the people waiting to take their place, the practices they’re championing and the obstacles they must overcome.

At 6pm, the evening will begin with an hour-long mixer prior to the screening at 7pm, where and farm seekers and landowners share their challenges associated searching for farmland or a farmer to farm their land. The goal of the mixer is to have land seekers to connect directly with landowners, share information about their farm, vision and goals, and trade contact information. This mixer enabled farmers and landowners to meet and begin a dialogue that could lead to a future land match.

Farmland Owners: This is an opportunity for you to promote your farming opportunity (be it a sale, lease or other non-traditional arrangements) and connect with land seekers that are looking for a piece of ground to grow on.

Farmland Seekers: This is a chance for you to meet face-to-face with landowners that are ready to give you a chance to develop your farm enterprise on their land.

WNC FarmLink wants to give you an opportunity to meet one another and begin a dialogue that could lead to a future land link!
